  Our first time eating here although we've wanted to many times. We always seemed to miss the open hours. We had multiple rolls, one son we suggested the miso cod (which he said is one of the BEST meals he's ever eaten). Our waitress (also the bartender) passed us off to another waitperson who was very knowledgeable about allergies.
  
  I chose 2 rolls & the duck confit with rice rather then the potatoes due to my milk allergy & I can easily say eating at places like NOBU & such that the duck confit was one of the best meals I've had!

  This Asian fusion restaurant has an extremely popular happy hour, which features drinks and sushi-rolls. The drinks were good (we particularly liked the lilikoi martini), but the happy-hour sushi rolls are the reason a line forms before the restaurant opens (at 4:00 pm when we were there).
  
  We found the rolls to be of varying quality from adequate to pretty good ... but you got a lot of food for a reasonable price, the service was fast and efficient, and it really was a pretty good value.
  
  We really liked the salmon skin roll and spider roll. The eel roll wasn't that good.  The salmon avocado roll and yellowtail roll were both far smaller than the other rolls, and not nearly as good a value.
  
  We also ordered calamari, which was nothing special -- probably some standard frozen calamari from a restaurant supply house -- OK, but not great.
  
  That said, their happy hour is incredibly popular - a line forms well before the restaurant opens, and often there isn't room for everyone in the line to get into the bar (though there is overflow space outside). One of the reasons the happy hour is so popular, ini addition to the value for the bigger sushi rolls, is the bartender. She's amazing -- she keeps on top of all the orders from all of her patrons, and of the patrons served by the other two waitresses -- and she makes all the drinks, welcomes people who come in the door, and keeps everything humming along efficiently. Wow!

  I gave two stars instead of three due to the service.
  Food was ok - bit pricey but hey, your in Hawaii, so it is what it is.  I'll start with the food.  My husband ordered the tenderloin carpaccio.  He said it was very good and my 12 year old son loved it as well.  I'm not a fan of raw meat, so I passed.  I had the die hard roll, which was really good but nothing that knocked my socks off.  My daughter ordered the sushi sashimi dinner.  The dinner was good, but again nothing to special.  I guess if it wasn't so late we would have been more adventurous in our orders, but we just wanted to eat and get back to the condo.
  For the service, like I said it was late in the evening, around 8pm when we got there.  The restaurant had maybe 10 tables total.  We were seated outside.  It took several minutes for our waitress to even bring us water.  Once she introduced herself, her demeanor was that of a scared child like she was going to piss off the owners or something.  It was a little off putting.  When my daughter ordered her sashimi dinner, she asked to substitute the salmon for tuna.  The waitress told her no.  My husband asked why not and the waitress said well I can ask.  ???  We have never been to a sushi place that would not let us pick our fish.  Anyway, we got the substitution and everything was fine until we needed refills on our drinks.  we had to flag down another server to get service and once our waitress actually reappeared we asked for the check.  She dropped it off, it took me less than 2 minutes to review it and stick my card in the folder.  We waited and waited.... my husband got up to go find someone to pay as we really wanted to leave and saw that the waitress was sitting down inside the restaurant.   I would find a different restaurant to try if your in the mood for sushi.

  Happy Hour here is amazing! It can be a bit pricey, otherwise.
  
  The farm-raised Kampachi is so delicious. It's a definite 'must try' if you've never had it before. Also, don't pass up the Uni (sea urchin from Japan). You won't taste a anything like it anywhere else (but Japan, of course). Totally worth the price. You'll taste the difference and know exactly where your money went. It's so good! Do get the Tenderloin Carpaccio too. You won't regret it. It practically melts in your mouth.
  
  There was not a bad dish to be had in sight. I'll definitely be back, the next time I'm on the Big Island.
